    IntroductionThis report is addressed to the Romanian government and examines the positive and negative aspects of the policy of free entry to museums considered to be implemented in this country. The main objective of this report is to determine how an increase in demand for museum tickets will boost Romania's economy, by allowing people to visit museums for free. Throughout the report, other examples from other countries like the UK and Sweden will be used to explain how free entry to museums will also have a positive impact on Romania. Economic functioning of the museum market, statistics of museum visitors and demographics model of museum visitsA very important factor in the market is the price mechanism: it affects both demand (people will want to enjoy goods of merit – the museums) and supply (depending on the entrance price or free entry, some museums might last longer or not at all in the market.) The public is easily attracted by incentives such as student discounts and children and free entry for the elderly and people with disabilities. Incentives generate more visitors. However, the current demand for tickets is low compared to the optimal quantity, even though the heritage and tradition of museums are considered of great value. The shortage of demand is mainly due to the income of the working classes. A notable aspect of the Romanian museum market is that, although the number of visits to museums recorded a significant decrease (12 million visitors to 9.5 from 2007 to 2011), the number of museums increased from 679 to 709 (Pârvulescu 2013), according to Mediafax.
