  • Essay / ms j - 687

In this assignment, I will discuss the case study of Ms J and analyze her needs in terms of psychosocial approach. This study will consist of a basic idea about grief and loss - in a way to support Ms. J. . - with key psychosocial issues such as gaining trust while meeting one's needs. We will also explain the key features of four theories - humanistic, psychodynamic, behaviorist and life stages - to meet Ms. J's needs. According to the World Health Organization, health is "not simply the absence of illness or infirmity”, but rather “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being”. [Dr Binks-Swain, J (2014)] If someone is unable to maintain their health as mentioned above, then additional support or interventions such as social services, counseling and support from a healthcare professional are vital. With additional support, they can maintain a healthy lifestyle. In this case study – the case of Mrs J – I will see that a psychosocial approach is more appropriate than a medical/clinical intervention. When it comes to grief or loss, we think about it and discuss it very little in our daily lives. Either we encounter it less and rarely in our daily lives compared to our ancestors, or these losses usually occur later in our lives - as Mrs. J eventually faces. So we learn to grieve and accept it, do things the way we feel and ultimately we have to cope and adapt when we are faced with the death of someone we love [Pitt, B. Timms, P (2013)]. Grief is something we all face after any loss. This is very powerful after the death of someone we love. Grief is not just a feeling; It’s a series of feelings and it will take a considerable amount of time to sort through. [Hawton, K. Simkin, S (200...... middle of article .......fsu.edu(2014)]5. Acceptance: “I am at peace with what comes.” This is the final stage of healing and it is about accepting the reality, this means that nothing can change the loss and finally accepting it. This does not mean that the client -. is happy with the loss, but she is learning to move forward [Dr.Binks-Swain, J. (2014)] [http://med.fsu.edu(2014)]There will be no specific time frame for this. Each of the stages and some of the factors that can affect the intensity and duration of your grief will be, [www.cancer.org (2014)]1 The relationship Mrs. J had with her husband2 The circumstances leading to her death3. . Her own life experiences. Understanding loss in the psychosocial approach with the following theories will allow us to help Ms. J more appropriately...
