Insomnia is defined as a “prolonged and usually abnormal inability to get enough sleep” in simpler terms, insomnia is difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep , overall sleep quality, or some sort of combination. of all these symptoms. We all have bad nights of sleep from here to there, but insomnia is classified as a long-term pattern that is not only a nighttime problem, but also extends during the day with some sort of sleepiness problem , fatigue or concentrating on problems. Everyone has usually experienced some type of insomnia, usually acute insomnia. But when acute insomnia becomes chronic (lasts about three months, occurring 3 or more times per week), it is diagnosed as a sleep disorder. Insomnia is a fairly common disorder among Americans. According to NPR, more than 60 million Americans have fallen victim to it this year alone. Insomnia is a serious sleep disorder affecting millions of people per year. In my essay, I will discuss the symptoms of insomnia, treatments, and why the disorder occurs. Insomnia is classified into two categories: primary insomnia also known as chronic insomnia and short-term insomnia also known as acute insomnia. Each of these classifications presents simple symptoms that might go unnoticed as normal everyday pain without knowledge of the disorder. Insomnia is a complex disorder because there are always different factors for different people that generally contribute to the disorder. Doctors usually look at behavioral issues in a patient, such as their sleeping habits and how they can maintain good sleeping habits. The symptoms of insomnia can be divided into daytime and nighttime symptoms, nighttime symptoms consist of difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep or having... middle of paper...... or to pass out and sleep.
