Essay / Bullying Proposal - 896
I was thirteen when this happened. With a broken fist, a displaced jaw, and a smug face, I entered the living room. I was in excruciating pain, but I enjoyed it. I loved every second of it, because that was the day I showed the bully that I wasn't just another flower child, I was a lion who would tear him down if I had to. With tears streaming down her cheeks, my mother rushed me to the hospital, sick with worry. She asked, “WHY?” to which I proudly replied, “Because it had to be done.” It was the day I stood up to a bully. Even though I knew I couldn't win, I had nothing to lose. We exchanged blows, we cried in pain, we fought until one of us fell. Since then, neither me nor my friends have ever been bullied, we were free. Bullying is not just a friendly quarrel, it is not a minor argument, it is stealing the joys of life from others, it is ruining one's life forever. Bullying has ruined countless lives, and it will continue to do so unless tough action is taken. The bullying must stop, and it must stop now. This proposal aims to eradicate bullying in our local high schools; By gathering conclusive evidence and enforcing strict regulations, we will put an end to harassment once and for all. Victims of bullying are 2 to 9 times more likely to commit suicide, adding to already high suicide rates among teens. According to the ABC news network, 30 percent of students are victims of bullying, which means that 3 out of 10 teenagers are victims of bullying and therefore slowly sink into depression. How many friends of yours are or have been victims of bullying? How many friends have you had to lose to bullying? How many of them decided that the end was better than the daily torture inflicted by a tyrant? I'm sure you know at least one couple who end up......middle of paper...dear, involved student and parent at our local high school. The estimated cost of installing a CCTV camera in every room would be around fifty thousand dollars. Even if the money, time and effort are considerable, the respect would be greater. Ensuring student safety, ensuring suicide rates are reduced, and teens falling into depression are just the tip of the iceberg. By implementing these laws, we could set an example and remind students that the school does not take such matters lightly. Moreover, the benefits of implementing the video surveillance system are visible all over the world: businesses, banks and offices all agree that the implementation of the video surveillance system has significantly reduced all criminal activities within the company. The benefits far outweigh the hard work and thus this proposal is bound to succeed.
