Gatsby would always try to control everything in the life of Nick and everyone around him. Nick has a very friendly and kind personality, and he is on Gatsby's side most of the time. It can be implied that Gatsby takes this lovely character for granted because in one part of the novel, Gatsby tried to control everything that needed to be taken care of when Daisy arrived. Gatsby used his money to buy the flowers and all the necessary arrangements for that purpose.
