  • Essay / Argumentative Essay on Therapy - 737

Working with a client to reduce their resistance is a great way to connect with the client, so if it reestablishes a wall, we should continue to push clients to resolve their problems . . If a therapist is moving too fast, yes, we should slow down, but as a therapist we should keep moving. If a client asks me personal questions related to the topic, I see no reason why I cannot answer the questions. If we want our clients to open up to us, we need to be able to share parts of our lives with them, if necessary. I agree with the therapist who doesn't care about DSM IV. The DSM IV keeps individuals stuck in their own world. He gives excuses and reasonings as to why they act the way they do in society. Giving someone a DSM IV diagnosis causes confusion and isolation between client and therapist. Reading a book to diagnose a problem instead of understanding the situation can cause friction in the process.
