Study Proposal for a Social and Premedical Studies Student (Premed)As a Social and Premedical Studies student, I aspire to lead an international health and development non-governmental organization (NGO). By combining my skills as a physician and development practitioner, I intend to improve the health of marginalized, persecuted and exiled populations. Through direct interaction with government agencies and humanitarian NGOs, I hope to highlight and reduce the medical and psychological burden arising from human rights violations. With my skills as an instructor in humanitarian law and refugee research, I also wish to train international and indigenous humanitarian personnel to guarantee health, nutritional and sanitation standards for uprooted populations. Aspiring to bring holistic leadership to the health and humanitarian sector, I must fully understand and know how to address the social, political and cultural factors linked to poor health.
