Decreased levels of job satisfaction among workers in a violent environment lead to increased nursing turnover, leading to understaffing and reduced quality of health care services. Victims of workplace violence report emotional exhaustion, fear of coming to work, anxiety and depression; they are often pushed to leave their jobs, or even the nursing profession. Research indicates that workplace violence often goes unreported; It is therefore important to implement effective measures to prevent and eliminate workplace violence. Educational programs are essential to promote knowledge and understanding among nurses of workplace violence and workplace violence prevention strategies. Healthcare organizations should be guided by an established policy that emphasizes the responsibility of all managers and employees to be accountable for their behavior in the workplace, and implement a reporting, documentation and treatment procedure incidents of violence in the workplace. Organizations must address horizontal violence, educate their employees, and foster a healthy and safe work environment for customers and employees.
