In the plays The Glass Menagerie and A Raisin in the Sun, both tried to imbibe the dreams they had all imagined. Life's struggles and trying to achieve that dream can be a struggle. In both plays, reality was a major factor in preventing them from achieving this. In Raisin in the Sun, it was Prejudice and being black. In The Glass Menagerie, it was probably Laura, the disabled sister and daughter. The Glass Menagerie and A Raisin in the Sun are similar in their lifestyle and generational differences. The Glass Menagerie is a non-working family, the father worked to provide for the family's needs. In A Raisin in the Sun, almost everyone worked to support the household. Amanda is the character that circles around everyone the same way mom does. Amanda tries to get what she wants through Laura, her daughter. Laura doesn't say much about her feelings, she is very shy unlike Undera who expresses herself in particular about her non-belief in God.
