INTRODUCTIONTerrorism is one of the main ways of using violence, either to prove a point or simply to cause harm. Since September 11, terrorism has increased and the lack of a precise definition does not help solve the problem. To understand the ultimate goal of terrorism, this essay will examine the concept of terrorism and why violence must be used to prove something in a state. It will also examine how many states are able to maintain their position after a terrorist attack (using the United States and 9/11 as an example) as well as the destabilization this has caused in the state. Finally, it will explain how their objective can be the ultimate end for the attacked state. IS TERRORISM A STRATEGY OR A TACTIC?
