A good boy from a very poor family is offered the opportunity of a lifetime. Many children with sad lives look forward to the day when something spectacular happens for their family. The classic story of Charlie Bucket and the "Golden Ticket" who makes all his dreams come true is loved by children around the world. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was written by Roald Dahl in 1964 and has since been adapted into two major films. . In 1971, Warner Brother Studios turned the beloved children's book into a musical film and titled it Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This production was directed by Mel Stuart and starred Gene Wilder as the infamous chocolatier. Charlie Bucket was played by Peter Ostrum and lovable Grandpa Joe was played by Jack Albertson. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory begins with a school letting the kids out for the day, and all the kids run off to the local candy store. While all the kids in town are having a great time in the store, the salesman tells them about Willy Wonka and starts singing the first musical number from the film, "The Candy Man." When the song ends, the camera shows a store window and Charlie standing outside looking in because he has no money to spend on candy. Charlie breaks away from the happy kids to see his boss for his paper route and collects his first paycheck. today's money.
