What is a leader? In times of disaster, the decisive survival of a group depends on the leader, who takes control and maintains order. In today's society, people are judged based on their appearance and have no basis for knowing whether or not a person is capable of being a successful leader. Instead, good governance is based on the individual talents and characteristics that the person possesses. Piggy from William Golding's "Lord of the Flies" is a perfect sample of a person who may not be the most physically beautiful, but has the qualities necessary to be a great leader. Piggy is by far the smartest person in the group, as well as the most patient and sensible. These three traits define him as the best leader, if he was a leader. Piggy is definitely the smartest person in the group. Intelligence is a key characteristic of a great leader. If a leader is not intelligent and able to make wise choices, the group will not survive. Piggy displays his intelligence several times throughout the novel. One of them occurs during the troubled time when the boys saw the beast. The boys believe that the beast is located on top of the mountain, preventing them from starting the fire. All the boys except Piggy give up and think they will never be rescued because they couldn't start the fire. It's just Piggy who stays focused and tries to make suggestions: like moving the fire across the site. Piggy was the only one who could have the logical audacity to suggest moving the fire off the mountain. Ralph, who is the current leader, also depends on Piggy's intelligence for his leadership. For example, when Ralph asks, "Piggy, what are we going to do?" Whenever Ralph doesn't know what to do or say, he always turns to the middle of the paper because he knows that without them, the group wouldn't survive. Piggy is a logical intellectual, unlike the other boys. He remained civilized rather than turning into a wild animal. He is the only one of the boys who is capable of making appropriate decisions out of the group's best curiosity. The leader of the group, who is Ralph, in “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding, is responsible for the behavior of the boys. . A leader must be able to make good decisions, listen to each member of the group and keep a clear mind despite an uncivilized environment, to ensure everyone's well-being. Piggy is the only character who has managed to do all of these things because he is smart, patient, and consistent. These qualities are crucial for a good leader, making Piggy the best choice for a leader. Without Piggy as leader, no one will survive on the island.
