    Give me that old atheist religionRecently, I noticed that some of my friends were worried about me because I'm an atheist. It's strange, because I've never hidden this fact, although I don't preach it to anyone who will listen. Since realizing that I no longer agree with any of the religious views I was raised with, I have explained my views, as clearly as possible, to those who were interested, curious or challenged by their beliefs. Two months ago, a few days ago, I went to visit a friend of mine who lives in another city. She introduced me to some of her best friends and we started discussing our views on different issues. We discussed abortion, politics and the death penalty. Eventually the topic turned – as it always seems to do for me – to religion. They questioned me for two hours while I answered as best I could. They asked me if I had ever been a Christian (I did), if I had an ethical system (I do), how I came to my conclusions (by reason and observation), and what were my arguments against Christianity and the existence of Christianity. gods in general are (too numerous and involved to list here). One thing that surprised me, though, was that none of his friends asked me if I had my own religion. After all, just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I don't believe in anything or worship anything. The word “atheist” comes from the ancient Greek language. The prefix “a-” means “without” or “not”. The root “-theo-” means “god”. And the suffix “-ist” means “an adherent or advocate of a specified doctrine, theory, or school of thought” or “one who is characterized by a specified trait or quality.” (These definitions come from American Heritage Dictiona...... middle of paper ...... walking on the beach. It's the religion of listening to a really great song and feeling uplifted by the guitar solo. My ethical system is my own, based on the love of my own life and the love I need to actualize its potential, while respecting the right of others to do the same. my life, which comes from bringing to life those tangible and intangible creations of my mind that no one else can imagine, adoration, love and other similar emotions for the parts of my life that give back. my possible mental visions and for those who share my visions And my religion is the religion of the amazing totality and potentiality of my existence and the existences of. others.
