Essay / The Water Diviner by Andrew Night - 1725
People normally tend to assume that plants of the past varied in differences and traits from present species. People feel that species in the past experienced varying weather conditions and nature-related incidents, forcing them to adapt and differentiate themselves from others. In the book, Andrew Knight had the idea that the food available could have altered their genes. Reproduction might have something to do with the change in species. With plants, minor situations could determine whether they disperse a seed. This happens quickly and changes the plant's genes, causing a new formation to spread throughout the plant. The inheritance of reproductive genes is an important aspect when trying to determine the life of an ancestor. By studying these pigeons, Darwin decided that all pigeons were descended from the rock pigeon. Many people believe that pigeons are descended from a large number of species and birds. Pigeons mate for life and in doing so the breeds stay together and have markings in the same areas of the body. They change into different species over the years due to natural selection or an idea Charles called unknown selection. The second chapter consists of Darwin's continuation of his studies. It talks about variations in the natural world compared to domesticated species. He defines species variation and states that each naturalist has a different idea of the definition. He explains to the reader that it is difficult to relate other species together by characteristics of variation, because some are very similar but vary in other ways. Environmental conditions could affect the variation. The climate, the temperature, the separation of animals could transform them. The species changes over time and has chi...... middle of paper ......ms inside. I grew up by the lake, so the water will and always has been a part of my life. I go to the beach almost every year, so I'm also frequently involved in ocean life. My father is a fisherman; he visited many places and showed me many unique animals he captured. I think it would be the most interesting job because there is a huge ocean to explore. Another awesome part of the job would be the idea of always learning new things about fish. It would never turn into this job that has the same old routine because discoveries are still being made. The only downside to being a marine biologist is constantly smelling fish and dealing with fairly large fish that could put my life in danger. But every job will have its downsides, if these two are the only downsides of this job then I would have no problem overcoming my fear..
