Babe Ruth “Person of the Year” Have you ever wondered why the sport of baseball is popular all over the world in countries like Cuba, China and especially the United States United? Well, it wouldn't be popular in the world without someone named Babe Ruth. There are reasons Babe should announce Time Person of the Year and here's why. The achievements he made in the sport of baseball shaped the way the world viewed the sport and subsequently revolutionized it to become one of the most anticipated sports in the world. Babe's hitting powers with the bat at the plate took out other teams because he hit so many home runs that created a unique new style of play, he caught the attention of his fans, which later revolutionized baseball and it also brought hope and enthusiasm to Americans in the United States because of its success during the Great Depression. The following will explain why Babe Ruth should be chosen as Person of the Year. Before we can talk about Babe Ruth's success, here's some background and the steps he took to become who he is. Babe Ruth's real name is George Herman Ruth Jr., named after his father. He was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents George Sr. and Kate ("Babe Ruth 1). The lack of parental supervision allowed George Jr. to become somewhat undisciplined, often skipping school and causing trouble in the neighborhood. Finally, when he turned 7, his parents realized that he needed a stricter environment and so sent him to St. Mary's School. Industrial school for boys, school run by Catholic monks from an order of the Xaverian Brothers ("Babe Ruth 1").
