  • Essay / Case study of an environmental management system of...

IntroductionIn recent years, many companies have noticed the importance of environmental responsibility in addition to profit. Quazi et al. (2001) list some points that companies would tend to adopt an environmental management system, such as concern for board management, reducing costs, achieving international environmental standards, meeting customer expectations. customers, etc. Therefore, they would invest part of the resources to manage and improve environmental performance with different methods. In the aviation industry, airplanes constitute a significant source of greenhouse gas production. Some findings indicate that the aviation industry recently produces about 2% of global emissions. In a rapidly growing society, people tend to be wealthier and have more opportunities to travel, so greenhouse gas emissions from aviation would increase rapidly. The IPCC also predicts that by 2050, global emissions could reach 3%. In some countries, the government would help reduce aviation gas emissions. For example, the British government provides approximately five million pounds sterling to implement technical strategies to reduce aviation's environmental externalities (Chen, 2010).
