1) Plot Synopsis: Moishe the Beadle is a poor Jew who lives in Sighet with the narrator, Eliezer Weisel. On the second day, Eliezer asks his father to teach him Kabbalah, but his father says that Eliezer is too young to learn it. One night, Moishe the Beadle finds Eliezer why he is praying and Eliezer says he is not sure; he then asks Moishe what his reason for praying is. Moishe says he “does it not to learn by heart but to discover the very essence of divinity.” Soon after, Moishe begins teaching Eliezer Kaballah. Later, one day, all the Jews are expelled, including Moishe – because he is a foreigner. A few months later, Moishe returns and says: the Gestapo took power and forced everyone to build trenches. Then they marched the people into the trenches and shot them. Moishe was shot and left for dead, but he recovered and moved between Jewish homes each night. When he returns to Sighet, he tells people to be careful, but no one heeds him. In a few years, the Nazis threaten to attack the Jewish people, but Sighet does not fear this because they believe that no one will actually come. . Soon the Germans arrived in Sighet. After the residents of Sighet celebrate Passover, a few rules begin to apply: Jews cannot keep valuables, leave their homes for more than three days under penalty of being killed, and they must wear the Jewish star at all times. Subsequently, two ghettos were created and the Jews were transferred there. This is where the Jewish republics were formed. Then Eliezer's father returns with the news that they will all be deported. He says all people will be allowed to take only one bag and they will be taken to an unknown location the next day. At 8 a.m., po...... middle of newspaper ...... left Gleiwitz with around a hundred prisoners but arrived at Buchenwald with only a dozen people, a dozen people including Eliezer and his father. Moishe becomes weak and Eliezer begins to wish his father would die so he would only have to take care of himself. He feels guilty and takes his father to a doctor only to discover that Moishe has a very high fever. People tell Eliezer to abandon his father and he feels guilty again for even considering that. The next morning, Moishe's body is missing and Eliezer feels sad. Eliezer stays in Buchenwald for almost a year and nothing seems to matter to him after his father's death. One night, American tanks were seen and all the men scavenged for food. Eliezer suffers from food poisoning and goes to the hospital. Once recovered, he looks in the mirror and sees a dead body – this vision stays in his mind forever..
