    Interprofessional or multidisciplinary health care teams are groups of health care professionals from different disciplines who collaborate to provide care to patients. Effectively coordinated and collaborative interprofessional teams are essential to patient care and treatment (Rowlands & Callen, 2013; Doyle, 2008; Ruhstaller, Roe, Thürlimann, & Nicoll, 2006; Simpson & Patton, 2012, p. 300). Communication is a process of transmitting information between individuals through the use of speech, writing, or various other means, and is essential to the success of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) (Higgs, McAllister & Sefton, 2012, p. 5; An MDT should use multiple strategies to improve communication and ensure its success (Doyle, 2008). Effective PCT generates opportunities that benefit healthcare, explaining the recent dominance of interprofessional care in healthcare practice (Simpson & Patton, 2012, p. 300; Rowlands & Callen, 2013). Many barriers prevent effective communication within interprofessional teams. Lack of communication within MDTs presents challenges to their success, leading to numerous consequences, including MDT failure (London Deanery, 2012; Sargeant et al, 2008). Communication among professionals is the key factor underlying the potential success or failure of interprofessional teams. The outcome of multiprofessional team functioning will either be beneficial or detrimental to patient care. Interprofessional teams require work and effort from all individuals to achieve successful communication. (Sargeant et al, 2008; London Deanery, 2012).
