Fast food has taken over America. They implement their fatty and fatty foods all over the world to earn billions of dollars. Fast food is cheap, delicious and convenient. However, what people don't realize is that this food can be very harmful to your body. Fast food is full of calories, fat and chemicals that are not the best healthy choice for your diet. Fast food has increased overall obesity rates in the United States, and little is being done to stop it. People are constantly on the go, looking for quick, ready-to-eat meals, but choosing to buy fast food could potentially harm your health. In the movie Food, Inc, they discuss the problems that fast food has brought to America. Fast food is a dangerous substance that must be fought. People need to know what fast food really is, its effects, and how it can seriously impact your life and the lives of others. We have all heard of fast food, McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy's and many more. There are usually one or more in every major city in America. One of the reasons fast food is so popular is because you know exactly what you're going to eat. A cheeseburger from Detroit, Michigan will taste almost exactly the same as a cheeseburger from Orlando, Florida. People may ask: how is this possible? What's in our fast food? These questions come up frequently and require an answer. According to Dan Myers, fast food should be produced as cheaply as possible, as quickly as possible and as consistently as possible. It should also be delicious and keep you coming back for more. For this to happen, these fast food chains cannot rely on fresh or healthy ingredients (Myers). Everything you eat at a fast food restaurant is... middle of paper ... brings 17 million pigs to market each year (CAFO). Many people only think about the impact fast food can have on their own lives, but they don't realize that fast food kills millions of animals. Personally, I realize this because my father owns a pork business and I have seen how the system works. There are many things that the world doesn't know that happens to their meat. People need to be informed about the underlying facts behind the food industry. Fast food is everywhere. It's so hard not to go into town and pass a fast food place without wanting to stop. Being a student, I don't have a lot of money to spend on food. To be honest, I probably have a fast food meal once a week. After watching the movie Food, Inc., it really opened my eyes to the truth about the food industry. People need to be aware of fast food.
