Essay / Executive Summary – Operation Optimize - 822
Purpose and ScopeThe purpose of this document is to present the facts and issues surrounding the “Operation Optimize” initiative. The scope includes personal observations and conversations held with various department heads and the resulting inferences. This summary will summarize the situation; formulate conclusions and present recommendations on actions to be taken to address the obvious obstacles. Situation Summary The “Operation Optimize” project is effectively at a standstill. Our research shows that our competitors are on the verge of a breakthrough in the market. It is critical to the survival of AcuScan, Inc. to be first to market with our own viable product and gain market share. We find ourselves in a crucial situation where several of our department heads are in conflict regarding the launch of iScanner. This conflict is not constructive and is the primary cause of project interruption. We need to resolve this situation immediately in order to get "Operation Optimize" back on track and ensure the timely launch of iScanner.Key PointsSeveral senior executives have been tasked with getting this project off the ground. Currently, they cannot agree on a course of action. Pat Lambert, the new director of marketing, and Kelly Thomas, head of the software development team, cannot agree on the capabilities and availability of programmers. Thomas says that with recent staff reductions, his team is optimized to maintain support for existing systems. The additional work of developing new product features is more than the department can handle. Lambert's position is that after a conversation with the department's programmers, a complete prototype can be released to the market in... middle of paper ...... to format a SWOTT analysis. From there, realistic decisions can be made regarding current project milestones and deliverables. Changes to product development timelines and launch schedules may need to be considered. This solution is ideal for several reasons; less costly to implement, greater employee engagement and satisfaction, and greater potential for a superior product. In order to recognize long-term revenue, set a new industry standard, and maintain a reputation for integrity that has become the standard at AcuScan Inc., it is essential that we enter the market with a high-quality, tested product . It will take the commitment of every team member for “Operation Optimize” to succeed.ReferencesProduct Development at AcuScan. Critical Thinking GEN480: Evaluation Case.
