In my corner of the world, it's very common for parents to prepare their children for careers like medicine, law, and engineering because they view these careers as a map escape from poverty. As I grew older and my thinking skills developed, I quickly realized that I was not passionate about a career in medicine. Even though I have completed five years of undergraduate studies, I still have a lot to learn. Additionally, the essence of travel can never be overstated for an architect, so the opportunity to study in a different country, under a different climate and culture is an experience I look forward to. The desire to explore how science and technology can be used to improve building performance, both socially and environmentally, in developing countries also provides a spark of interest for my academic research. I am particularly interested in the field of architecture, because I believe that I would shape my immediate environment in my own way with my practices.
