Minaj is idolized among teenagers and she is sending them a negative message that goes against the fight for gender equality by singing this song. In 2016, we are still far from completely eliminating gender inequality. However, there are positive role models, like Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Prize winner, a Pakistani teenager who advocates for women's education: “she has given to millions of girls. . . the possibility of obtaining an education and giving oneself the means for a greater future than taking care of a household. (Intriguing). With the help of activists like Malala and society slowly progressing, small progress is being made and one day, gender equality will be a reality for everyone. Artists have the great opportunity to be heard by huge masses to educate and spread positive messages to improve our society, especially when society is struggling daily to reach a milestone like this.
