    “Eighty-seven years ago our fathers gave birth on this continent to a new nation, conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal », Abraham Lincoln. Our Founding Fathers agreed that all men and women are created equal and should not be discriminated against based on class or race. During the 1930s and 1960s, social inequality was widespread in everyday society. Daily social groups were segregated regardless of racial class. Whether in Maycomb, Alabama, Jena, Los Angeles, or New Orleans, social injustice is prevalent in our daily lives. In To Kill a Mockingbird, social inequality plays a key role, showing how even courts can be biased due to social class. “There is something in our world that makes men lose their minds. They couldn't be fair if they tried. In our courts, when it comes to a white man's word against a black man's, the white man always wins. They’re ugly but they’re the facts of life” (Lee 252). During a pivotal scene where Atticus remembers the racism in the justice system in Maycomb, Alabama. Knowing that it is almost impossible to prove Tom Robinson's innocence, he takes the case, believing that every man deserves the best legal representation. In the Tom Robinson case, the only evidence consisted of three testimonies, two from Bob and Mayella Ewell and one from Tom Robinson. The lack of physical evidence pleading that Tom Robinson was not guilty played a key role in this case.
