    IntroductionThis essay seeks to study the negative and positive effects of migration to London. As the London Migration Observatory claims, London has the highest number of migrants of any region in the United Kingdom (UK). Around 37% of the UK's foreign-born population lived in London (LMO, Dr Rienzo and Dr Vargas-Silva). Additionally, according to Benton-Smith statistics, London is the 5th largest international city in the world after New York, Toronto, Dubai and Los Angeles. This is why the author chose this city. This research will analyze the impacts of migration to London from different aspects, such as social and economic. First, one of the positive impacts is that migration can provide specific types of jobs. The largest number of immigrants work in the hotel and restaurant industry (42%), transport and distribution (31%), health (33%). We can therefore predict that most immigrants coming to London are highly ranked. This will develop the country's economy. Second, the fact is that foreign-born workers earn less than non-migrants. According to statistics provided by the Annual Population Survey (APS) (table below), we actually see that London's non-migrant population earns around 1.5 times more than foreign-born employees . Thus, immigrants are profitable for the government because they save money on paying salaries. However, if they earn less money, they pay less taxes. As a result, the government loses money. On the other hand, migration can have negative impacts. One of them is the unemployment of the indigenous population. As we said previously, foreign-born workers are more profitable for employers; they therefore have more chances of obtaining a job than the natives.
