Miles Davis is considered one of the most influential musical artists of all time. Coming from a jazz and bebop background, Davis' extravagant trumpet skills were unmatched. He pioneered major musical innovations, including bebop, cool jazz, modal jazz, and jazz fusion. Fronting jazz-fusion, Davis released two highly successful and yet controversial albums – In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew – which incorporated innovative musical features fusing elements of rock and jazz to create a revolutionary musical flow. Many considered Davis's experimental music controversial and perceived it as a backlash not only because it was non-mainstream, but also because of Davis's past. The release of In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew (both 1969) introduced innovative jazz sounds to the world. . Davis began to break boundaries by incorporating new electric instruments such as the bass guitar, electric guitar and electric piano.
