    As time passes, life becomes more difficult for many people in our community. There are those who become disadvantaged, such as the disabled, those who are unemployed and those who become adults and need special attention. Fortunately, there are specific organizations that meet these needs in the community, such as senior care centers or shelters. There are also large charities that take in patients with no income, patients diagnosed with illnesses and those suffering from isolation. Many organizations such as Caritas of Austin, Crisis Assistance Ministry, Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, and Homeland Center are charitable organizations that help their communities during times of recession, poverty, and special assistance. First, Caritas of Austin is a charitable organization that helps millions of women. , men and children who are poor. Founded in 1964 by Father Richard McCabe, Caritas began helping the homeless with a $30,000 budget funded by the Catholic Diocese of Austin. Collaborations from other churches and organizations, including the Salvation Army, have increased. By 1980, staff and volunteers doubled, 100 breakfasts and 300 lunches were distributed per day, and approximately 5,000 clients were served each year. Today, Caritas Austin continues to support those most in need.
