Essay / IMPLEMENTATION OF VACCINATION AGAINST HEPATITIS B IN...
CHAPTER IINTRODUCTION Context of the studyHepatitis B is a disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) which infects the liver of hominoids , including humans, and causes inflammation of the liver called hepatitis. The disease was originally known as "serum hepatitis", which caused epidemics in parts of Asia and Africa, and is endemic in China. About a third of the world's population, more than 2 billion people, have been infected with the hepatitis B virus. This includes 350 million chronic carriers of the virus. Transmission of hepatitis B virus results from exposure to infectious blood or body fluids (Bryant, 1992). Hepatitis B is also a potentially fatal liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus and is one of the major global health problems. is the most serious type of hepatitis. Hepatitis can lead to chronic liver disease and puts people at high risk of liver cirrhosis leading to liver cancer which can even lead to death. It has been reported that liver disease activity and prognosis are generally more severe in the presence of dual infection; although an inverse relationship in the replication levels of the two agents has been noted, suggesting viral interference, particularly in cases of chronic hepatitis. Thus, the two viruses appear to inhibit each other at the molecular level, while the cytopathic effects appear to be enhanced. Hepatitis B vaccine is developed for the prevention of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). A series of three (3) vaccine injections is enough to prevent infections if a person responds to treatment. The vaccine is given after the person tests negative, meaning the immune system is still exposed to...... middle of paper ...... and how students also tested submitted to the program.BIBLIOGRAPHYBooksBryant, NJ (ed.).
