It is not enough to ensure that basic needs are met, because if we stop there, people could find themselves trapped for generations in a cycle of having need government help. Their true potential has never been realized, and their children grow up believing that living off government programs is the way of life. It's imperative that we find ways to help people move from addiction to financial freedom. Only then will they truly feel part of the American system.
