  • Essay / Hydrologist - 670

WHO: Hydrologists, also called "water chemists", are essentially scientists specializing in soil culture, geology, aquatic biology, statistics, forestry, hydrogeology , chemistry, mathematical modeling and database management. Basically, it is scientists who monitor water use and resources by analyzing the water cycle. Hydrologists examine the different physical properties and characteristics, distribution patterns, and flow paths of water above and below the Earth's surface. They also study precipitation and precipitation patterns to determine groundwater and surface water content. Our body is made up of 70% water. In a world where water is so important, a hydrologist is someone who ensures that we can meet this necessity. WHAT: Hydrologists work to monitor, manage and protect water and water resources in a commercial, environmental and academic context. They ensure that water flows efficiently through multiple pipes and canals for water supply engineering and control. Water chemists work in teams to study ecosystems and industrial processes to ensure a safe and sustainable environment. They ensure that the water supply is the most efficient and cost-effective. A hydrologist also tests the quality of the water supplied in order to maintain the safety of its consumers. Some common tasks of a hydrologist include: • Collect weather data and analyze it to predict droughts and floods. o Plan responses to deal with conditions such as drought and flooding. • Create regulations to ensure safe and efficient use of water. • Collect and analyze water data to determine the level of pollutant in the water system.• ...... middle of paper ...... also take business, finance, marketing, and economics courses. Additionally, combining environmental science training with other disciplines such as engineering or business allows for a wider range of employment opportunities. Computer skills are also an essential skill for future hydrologists. Students who have experience and basic knowledge in computer modeling, data analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), etc. will be better prepared to enter the job market. Hydrologists often work in teams or with other scientists, engineers, and technicians. They must possess strong interpersonal skills as well as written communication skills. For hydrologists who work in the laboratory, it is essential that they can effectively create technical reports and research proposals, while hydrologists who operate in the field must have physical stamina..
