Essay / Tanning Tax - 1102
Tanning beds have for years helped people regain the natural glowing appearance that would normally come from the sun, but Congress has now passed a health care bill that authorizes a ten present tax on all indoor tanning beds. . Do people pay the tax for convenience or to help with healthcare in the United States? Congress tells people that the tax is intended to help pay for the treatment an individual must undergo because of damage caused by ultraviolet rays to a person's skin. (New York Times) I just wonder if Congress has fully thought through this tax. If Congress hasn't noticed, the United States is in a recession, which means jobs are scarce and debt is high. Congress is adding a tax to the working class as if it were nothing more than a change in the wind. The wind blows in different directions all around and can get violent; This is exactly what this tax will do to the working class. This change in wind could well turn into a tornado leading to disaster. Who does Congress think own these tanning salons? the working class, small business owners and industrial businesses, and these owners, are going to be severely impacted financially. The tanning bed tax is absurd. The tax does not solve America's health problems, but instead worsens the recession, contributes to Obama's debt crisis, and heavily targets certain people. The unemployment rate is at one of its highest peaks as small businesses close. fighting every day to keep the economy alive on life support. An article clearly explains the emotions running through the minds of the Congress. “Many unpleasant situations arise in our daily lives… Try to understand that fear is just a figment of your imagination. » (recession.org) this is obviously expressed...... middle of paper ......e Facts On File Encyclopedia Of Health and Medicine Volume 1.
