Essay / A review of live performances at Denver Performing...
On March 30, 2014, I made the trip to Denver, for a Masterworks performance of Litton Conducts Vaughan Williams. The show took place at the Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, in the heart of downtown. I can definitely say that this was going to be an experience for me, since I never take the opportunity to go to downtown Denver very often, if at all. However, today was the big day. I found my way easily, found the parking lot, and eventually parked my truck in a clear parking spot at the top, away from other vehicles, hoping I had a better chance of getting out. with the big beast of a truck that I had. to drive. Trust me, this is not something that can be easily achieved, considering I'm a farm girl and rarely have to go to anything resembling a bigger city. Boettcher Concert HallThe Boettcher Concert Hall is where the Colorado Symphony Orchestra calls home. It was built in a round design with the audience in mind; allowing customers to live an experience close to the stage. Exiting the elevator from the upper level of the parking lot, I took a moment to collect my senses and take in the buildings around me and the architecture. I was greeted at the door by a door attendant who graciously held the door for me and called me ma'am. As I walked under the glass of the arcade leading to the concert hall, I realized I might have been slightly underdressed for this swanky arts complex, but I continued. After finding the call, I headed in the direction I was given towards the concert hall. I really didn't know what to expect when I walked into the lobby; The closest I ever came to a so-called concert hall was the auditorium of my old...... middle of paper ......s of thanks.
