  • Essay / Essay on Knowledge of Knowledge - 1062

If knowledge did not evolve, then according to what was once "accepted knowledge", the Earth would still be flat. However, this evolution was only possible because of the inherently flawed means by which humans acquired this so-called knowledge. The statement we will address throughout this essay – “What is accepted as knowledge today is sometimes rejected tomorrow” – has a key word: ; "accepted." When people accept something as knowledge based on unreliable principles, then it is bound to be rejected tomorrow. Because of the imperfect ways of knowing, our knowledge is also imperfect and therefore must always be questioned to ensure that it is accurate and reflective of the objective world. Various disciplines – science and history – and the knowledge claims associated with them will be examined closely throughout this essay to determine whether knowledge should in fact be discarded. The future challenges us. Rather than thinking about what we can do to improve our lives in a few hours, we think about what we can do to improve the world in 10 years – with the future based on human needs. Human behavior today reflects our actions yesterday. Almost everyone is now subject to denial which leads to improvement. This constant reminder and need to improve is what fuels the human race. We often find it easy to prove something is wrong, but our biggest obstacle is proving what is right..
