  • Essay / Relationship Skills - 1295

A relationship is what we choose to have with a family member, friend, significant other, and/or someone we have just met. You need to know that there must be a strong connection or bond for the relationship to grow on many levels. Relationships tend to vary from impersonal to personal. A description of an impersonal relationship is that of a person who doesn't care and shows a lack of interest in anyone they communicate with. In personal relationships, people care about each other and share their thoughts and feelings. In my life, I allowed myself to become aware of what I needed to do to improve my relational skills. I'm still making these changes. To maintain a successful and ongoing relationship, you need to have good communication skills, effective listening skills, own your feelings, send clear messages, commit and take responsibility from an adult instead. than a child's place or a parent's place. In my first skills application paper, we were asked to write about how we can improve our listening skills and what we did to become aware of them. It seemed like I was just writing a step-by-step listening process and not showing that I understood the concept. In this article I will give detailed examples to show how these skills were applied and if it worked for me. Communication is the most important part of a healthy relationship. We can create a healthy relationship by showing empathy and trust towards others. My communication methods were not effective because I would hesitate a lot about what I was going to say to certain people. In my past relationship, I had a heated argument with my ex-boyfriend. I got so mad at him because...... middle of paper......rced. In my culture, divorce doesn't cross our minds and is indescribable! My boyfriend and I have a serious relationship but we don't really think about it. I believe we are all meant to be with that person in life, but I'm not sure it's them. The only thing I can do is have hope and pray about it. My people skills have their ups and downs. It depends on who you are with and how they treat you. If you hold back your feelings, the relationship will be weak. We all want to have an ongoing relationship, but that will only happen when we realize that things need to change. I have realized that different areas of my relationship need to change and I know for sure that I still need to work on them. Once we understand this, our relationships with our partner and/or friend will develop on different levels..
