Have you ever heard of “Early Jamestown?” » It was in 1607, about 110 Englishmen arrived on the coast of Virginia, to search for gold, which the Spanish also had begun to search for and found an abundance of gold. It was the first permanent English colony in what is now the United States. The “early” Jamestown includes the first five years of colonization of the Americas. The question is “Why did so many settlers die?” » A settler died early in Jamestown due to three problems. These issues were environmental issues, relations with Native Americans, and the lack of skills that the settler brought with him to Jamestown. The first reason the Jamestown settler died was because of environmental issues. The settler arrived in the region at the start of a long drought. The drought lasted six years, from 1607 to 1613.
