Essay / Essay on Honor Killings in Pakistan - 746
Honor killings in PakistanHonor killings have become very common in Pakistan, especially in Sindh and the tribal areas of Pakistan. In Pakistan, hundreds of women are killed every year in the name of honor. Such a cruel custom has existed in our country for many years. Honor killings are common throughout the country, although in some areas, incidents of honor killings have taken an incredibly high number of incidents in recent years. In Azad Kashmir, a mother helped her husband kill their 15-year-old daughter because they saw her talking to a young man. They killed her by dousing her with acid. Her older sister was not in favor of this custom and she was very worried about the crime her parents had committed. She requested a judicial and police investigation for her sister, but all were in vain because it was done in the name of so-called “honor”. Our state also seeks the satisfaction of honor in matters of foreign policy. Our society has become so cruel due to the Taliban's unintentionally accepted guidelines of conduct. The people who are killed in the name of honor are mostly women. The rise of honor is an illustrative feature of our justice system; it is making a concession to the violence in our society. Pakistan's education system has collapsed. The thriving madrassas have strengthened the fire of honor rather than extinguishing it from our education system. Pakistan's three territories, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Swat and Azad Kashmir, managed their primary education system very well, but it was destroyed by the 2005 earthquake. The Taliban are also destroying the education system of these territories. Our country's parliamentarians are also in favor of honor killings. This was seen in 1999 when a lady was...... middle of paper ......education system of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Swat and Azad Kashmir.• The parliamentarians of our country are also in favor of honor killing. • In 1999, a lady was killed in the name of honor in the office of human rights lawyers in Lahore because she was asserting her right to marry the man of his choice. The lady did not get justice.• In Pakistan, a man's honor depends on his wife's behavior. Women are always expected to behave modestly.• The killing of disobedient women is considered a refinement of the family.• Women are always expected to behave decently in our society because if they commit a harmful act, it will bring shame and dishonor to male members of their family. • If we want to maintain our self-esteem and honor, we should not distance our daughters from higher realization of our society and Islamic norms and values.
