UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund). A charitable NGO, managed by the UN, was created more than 50 years ago. It is active in more than 191 countries such as Jordan, Egypt and Iraq. It is run by volunteers and their funding comes from donations. Their mission statement is to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to support their full participation in the political, social and economic development of their communities. This NGO is run by volunteers and financed by donations. UNICEF was established in December 1946 after World War II by the United Nations to provide food, clothing and health care to European children facing famine and disease. They believe that helping and nurturing families is the foundation of human progress. With this conviction, they help children and families who face poverty, violence and disease. They educate children who don't have access to education like us. We believe that every child should have the right to be “immune against common childhood illnesses and to be well-nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness.” We work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS live their lives with dignity. In 2012, UNICEF treated 2 million children suffering from severe and moderate malnutrition; vaccinated 38.3 million children; provided 12.4 million people with access to safe water for drinking, cooking and washing; provided 2.4 million children with child protection services; enabled 3 million children to access improved education; UNICEF was created with this purpose: to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child's path. We believe that together we can make a difference in each of these children, make a donation today by going online “https://secure3.unicef.ca/site/Donation2?df_id=1481&1481.donation=form1&s_locale= en_CA”
