    Most people working for minimum wage cannot afford fresh food and fall into the vicious cycle of eating out almost every meal. Fast food may be more convenient because it's quick and cheap, but fresh produce is the best choice. Fresh produce is more nutritious than frozen or prepackaged foods. When foods are frozen, their nutritional value decreases and unwanted preservatives are usually added. Locally grown produce is healthier and helps families spend more time together at home. In The Fight over Food Deserts: Corporate America Smacks Its Way Down by Eric Holt-Giménez, he says: “The solution to food security in America must come through a revitalized food economy – one that pays workers a living wage, which includes workers and minorities. individually owned businesses, keeping food dollars in local communities. (Holt-Giménez 526) He means that people should have a salary they can live on and not have to buy food from companies. The money should also be able to stay in the community instead of going into huge national francizations. In the long run, families will save more money by eating at home rather than going to restaurants every day.
