    Globalization is a term that we face every day. There are many different definitions of the term globalization. According to the Oxford Dictionary, globalization is “the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or begin to operate on an international scale” (oxforddictionaries.com). We see it on television, in advertising, on websites and in magazines. Kevin Robins (1997) pointed out that the consequences of globalization are issues that we face in our daily, routine lives; when we go shopping, eat out, watch TV, or go to the movies (p. 118). McLuhan (1962) developed the term "global village" in the 1960s to express his belief that electronic communication would bring the world together because "the medium is the message." This essay aims to uncover the impact of technology and digital media on globalization and how they help shape today's world. There is a scary aspect to the rapid evolution of technology. When we look at software, it's clear that it controls almost everything that keeps our world afloat. Software controls the world economy, it controls missiles, and it also controls logistics. Software and technology are almost like an invisible glue that holds the globe together.
