Shipbuilding in SwedenSweden is a country in Northern Europe located between Finland and Norway. The country shares its borders with the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Bothnia, Kattegat and Skagerrak. Although known as a military power in the 17th century, Sweden remained a neutral country and did not participate in any of the world wars in modern history. A former agricultural country, Sweden has become a highly industrialized country, with its rich resources of iron, hydroelectricity and wood. The rich resources have also enabled the country to develop metal products, automobiles, machinery, transportation equipment and paper products. In recent years, Sweden has also developed its information technology, telecommunications and pharmaceutical sectors. Sharing its borders with major sea routes, Sweden also has important seaports. Its rich maritime history has also facilitated the development of Sweden's shipbuilding industry.
