Life as we know it began when the Creator revealed Himself in Genesis 1. But today, centuries later, our world is slowly falling apart. Some choices are major and may require a lot of thought and perhaps even prayer. In the Bible, we remember the story of Jesus in Matthew who tells us to make a wise choice about the path we follow in this life. Notice, he only gives two choices: the broad path leading to destruction and hell, or the narrow path leading to heaven. I believe the reason it is easy for people to choose between the broad route is that it has no rules. It is the path in which people believe that they can do whatever they want and live however they want. The second way, which is the narrow way, does not allow people to bring in souls who may not yet be forgiven. Active Christianity says, “This means we must let go of everything that holds us back, such as relationships that hold us back, status, honor, and pride” (Active Christianity, 3). In John 14:6, Jesus reminds us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6, ESV). Here we are reminded that there is only one way, one way, one truth and one life that leads to God and that our choices can determine where our lives end up. In the parable of the prodigal son, we remember a man who had two sons, one of whom, after receiving his first inheritance, went off alone "to live the good life." Soon after, we know that he eventually paid the price and lost everything he had. Remember that even after the son left home, his father never stopped loving him. Eventually the son returns and the father forgives his son for all the trouble he has caused. Throughout this story, God has demonstrated the same kind of love that He has for us.
