Cybercrime is the act of committing a crime on the Internet or on a mobile phone. There are many types of cybercrime. You can prevent cybercrime. You can also take certain steps to maintain your personal information. There are 6 types of crimes. The first is piracy. This is when you copy copyrighted material. This is when you illegally download music, movies, programs, video games, books and other items from the Internet. It's only illegal if you get it for free and haven't paid for it. There are free downloadable files on the Internet. Theses are called Creative Commons. This is when the author of the material wants to distribute his material for free. Music is a common type of content that people download illegally from the Internet. It is said that ninety percent of music is downloaded illegally. The rest is purchased either in store or online at a certain price. If you are arrested, the police will charge you $1,000 per song you download illegally. If the world didn't illegally download music, music artists would be a lot richer. The second type of cybercrime is hacking. This is when you break into a system to abuse it. There are three types of hacking. The main one is called phishing. This is when you use a fake email or website to trick a person into getting their personal information. The fake email or website will ask you to enter private information. These hackers make the fake website look like a real one in order to deceive you. Another main type of hacking is SQL injection. If you're trying to open a bank account, it's best to do it in person. You can tell a real website from a fake one. The URL of a truly secure website will start with https and not http. Sometimes hackers don't want to get into serious trouble if they get caught. So, the people who create the fake website use misspelled words. Additionally, the name of the fake website they want to use is already taken. Instead of using Facebook, they would spell it Facebook.
