  • Essay / Ethiopian Culture Essay - 1167

The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. The United States is traditionally seen as a "melting pot" welcoming people from many different countries, races, and religions, all hoping to find freedom, new opportunities, and a better way of life. Just as cultures around the world have influenced American culture, American culture today influences the world. People migrate to the United States for many reasons. For example, some flee governments that do not govern in the interests of their people or that treat different groups poorly for reasons of ethnicity, religion, or political opinion. One of the main reasons my family and I emigrated to this country was to seek better educational opportunities. I am currently in my final year here at VCU working on my bachelor's degree in health sciences. I have two siblings, a younger brother and a younger sister. My brother is studying accounting at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and my sister is a sophomore.
