  • Essay / ADA Versus ADM - 1098

ADA Versus ADMEEducational success is mainly based on attendance in our school systems. In order to obtain appropriate funding to create an effective learning environment that produces high-achieving results, the school must serve as many students as possible while maintaining high attendance rates. Student achievement, particularly in mathematics, is very likely to fail if consistent attendance is not achieved (Balfanz and Byrnes, 2012). “Attendance also strongly affects standardized test scores and graduation and dropout rates” (Balfanz & Byrnes, 2012, p. 4). An attempt to motivate this consistent attendance has been through state and district policies to reward school districts for attendance. Two main systems "Average Daily Attendance" and "Average Daily Attendance" are used to achieve perfect attendance outside of a chronic illness or an extreme case excusing a student's absence. Districts have the daunting task of attracting attendance in order to better fund their schools, but the only way to adequately generate revenue is to create a school that guarantees high student retention and attendance rates. Average Daily Membership and Average Daily Attendance Schools primarily use two systems. to measure and report attendance within their schools in order to increase their funding. “Average Daily Membership” which is equivalent to the total enrollment of split and full-time students, less withdrawals, from each school day through the first hundred days or two hundred session days, as applicable, for current year (State of Arizona).
