  • Essay / Ghosts: Undeniable or Unrealistic - 900

The supernatural world and the idea of ghosts is divided between skeptics and believers. In fact, one can't watch a horror movie, sit around a campfire, or leave the house on Halloween night without hearing about such things. While entertaining, this is unfortunate because many people today use these shows for purposes greater than what they were intended to be used for. Many use them as fire to fuel their arguments while others dismiss them as "fake" because they do not represent ghosts correctly. Although seemingly important, the question should not be whether these shows and stories portray ghosts correctly, but rather whether they are real. This question, are ghosts real, is one that skeptics and believers have pondered for years, as both sides truly know the truth of the matter. More specifically, the question is of some importance because, in any case, whether real or not, the idea of ghosts forces one to question one's own beliefs, feelings and morals and to confront the idea of death head-on (Parra, 416). As mentioned previously, ghost stories can be attributed to many different areas of life, including movies, stories, and even ancient history. From depictions of ghosts in Shakespeare's famous plays to the famous 'Casper' films, there's no escaping what has quite easily become one of the most debatable topics of our day. Over time, these productions and publications gave rise to continuous investigations and the question therefore developed. People on one side say that ghosts are real because they claim to have encountered such characters. People who don't believe simply consider them figments and figments of our imagination. With a lack of compelling evidence and a world full of technology, each side has valid reasons to believe... middle of paper ... the ghost is sure to continue, there is always a place to see the eyes. -eye. For now, it's possible that the middle ground is simply that both parties agree that ghosts, real or not, come from a realm other than Earth. Whether one is a believer or not, both sides have, for the most part, learned or believe that ghostly images are not of this world since they are dead. This, although small, is a great starting point to open up the debate about whether ghost or ghost-like characters are real. Additionally, it might be a good idea to just agree that we need to define more precisely what is considered ghosting, as that might help people understand their position on the issue. Whatever the outcome, let's stay true to our beliefs, our morals and our feelings, because that is truly at the heart of the whole debate. Let's choose the path that suits us best because ultimately we are our own leaders of our lives..
