Essay / History of Chemistry - 748
Chemistry is involved in almost everything we do. Everything involved in changing matter is chemistry. Chemistry is found in several fields such as biology and technology. Without chemistry, we would not be as technologically advanced as we are today. Chemistry has been around for a very long time and it has a ton of history. There are many different stages in the history of chemistry. Chemistry crosses over into biology in different ways. Without chemistry, biology would not be what it is today. Biology is the study of living organisms and chemistry is the study of the chemical composition and properties of matter as well as the reactions of that matter. Everything that lives undergoes multiple chemical reactions in its body at any time. For example, when you eat something, your body's stomach acid breaks down the food; it is an example of a chemical reaction occurring in a living organism. This is just one of the ways that chemistry translates into biology. Even when you drink water, it has something to do with chemistry. Water is a compound made up of hydrogen and oxygen. This is found in biology, because without water you could not live. Biotechnology is essentially a mixture of biology and chemistry. Biotechnology involves taking living things and making them into things that benefit humans. Humans have used biotechnology for thousands of uses such as agriculture, food production and medicine. Biotechnology has expanded to include new and diverse sciences such as genomics, recombinant genetic technologies, development of pharmaceutical therapies and diagnostic tests. Chemistry has been around for a very long time. This goes back to ancient history. In prehistoric times they used chemicals... middle of paper ...... to make elements into compounds, nothing we have would work, we wouldn't have electricity. Chemistry is even found in our weapons without chemistry, none of our weapons would be able to fire. They fire due to the contact of two compounds and cause a small explosion with the launch of the bullet. Everything about weapons has something to do with chemistry. Chemistry, as you can see, has a lot of history. It also has a lot to do with everything we do. Every kind of technology we have is related to chemistry. Biology also joins chemistry, as I explained above. Chemistry is part of our everyday world. Everything we have is made up of many parts put together to make other things. If you could break something down all the way, it would eventually come back to the parts that make it up. Chemistry is involved in everything we do.
