  • Essay / Argument Against Abortion - 1213

Abortion seems to be just another term thrown around like any other. The word abortion has become very common all over the world, whether it is illegal or legal. Being pro-life means you are against abortion; a medical or surgical procedure that ends a pregnancy. The Pro-Choices are on the opposite side. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on whether abortion is right or wrong. However, abortion should be stopped, because killing an unborn fetus is just as serious as murder; it's murder. Pro-Life makes the heart beat. The question of when a fetus becomes a person remains at the center of the entire abortion debate. Pro-life groups believe that the fetus becomes a person once conceived. No one really knows when the fetus gets a soul, but the heart begins to beat within 18 days of conception (Fettner 11). In 1984, a film called The Silent Scream was released to show the horrors of abortion. The film featured an ultrasound of a fetus undergoing an abortion in progress. The fetal arms were torn off after the legs were dismembered. The body was then removed by the vacuum cleaner, leaving only the head with a small piece of fetal spinal cord still attached. This abortion was performed during the first trimester, the fetus was moving and it could clearly be seen that at the time of the abortion the fetus was showing signs of difficulty. This meant that the fetus could only feel pain during the first trimester. Before the suction from the vacuum tip even reached the fetus, the child began to struggle in the womb. The fetus became very agitated and began moving in the uterus very violently. Before the suction tip could reach the fetus and dismember it, the film was shown... middle of paper ... for the love of the human being inside her. Pro-Life makes the heart beat.
