    Kanban is an information system used to control the release of materials during operations (Monden, 1998). This way, organizations know when to acquire more hardware from vendors (Slack et al., 2007, p. 480). It also provides a visual cue that helps organizations have products tailored to customer needs (Melton, 2005). A push system works by attempting to determine when individual work centers must complete processing work orders in order to meet MPS commitments. MRP is considered the classic example of a push system. A pull system, on the other hand, looks at the manufacturing process from the other side, i.e. from the point of view of the finished article. The production controller assumes that his orders represent firm customer requirements. The time horizon is naturally short. Orders are distributed from the highest level and the controller checks whether enough components are available to produce the finished product.
