    This text reports situations in which an adolescent risks committing suicide. Some of these situations relate to depression, social pressure, substance abuse and family difficulties. All of these factors make a teenager feel overwhelmed and confused. There are many events that a teenager goes through before committing suicide. Suicide rates vary between men and women because men use more lethal methods than women. What are the feelings that push adolescents to commit suicide? All information can be helpful in helping someone with a problem because it describes how to help a person without making the problem worse. There are also some myths that people believe do not help prevent suicide. Are there signs that help identify suicidal adolescents? This research helps to understand why some adolescents might want to commit suicide and what can be done to prevent it? What programs are available to dissuade them from making this negative choice? Teen Suicide Teen suicide rates are increasing in our society. “Suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15- to 24-year-olds,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “after accidents and homicides” (quoted in Feldman, 2012, p. 364). This information is unpleasant to know because there is something wrong that is causing it to happen. Many factors are involved in suicide. Nock noted that "adolescence is the time of sexual identity and relationships and a need for independence that often conflicts with the rules and expectations set by others" (quoted in New, 2012, paragraph 8). A teenager might feel pressure from parents, teachers, and friends to deal with a major obstacle. Suicides are unplanned: people always try to find alternatives to their problems and attract the attention of others before committing suicide. A person who has already attempted suicide will not try again: some people try several times until they commit suicide. Only a certain type of person commits suicide: suicide does not respect race or gender. If a teen shows signs of depression, seek help at the hospital or a doctor who may refer them to a specialist or program. Frankel and Kranz (1994) stated that “when a long-term depressed person seems to cheer up, it is often a bad sign” (p. 22). Teenagers commit suicide because we lack attention in their lives. No one notices the signs of a depressed teenager because people are misinformed.
