In the article "The Singer Solution to Global Poverty" Peter Singer discusses how Americans don't give money to poor people like children when they live a luxurious lifestyle, like a big flat screen TV or a Bugatti. The author attempts to argue that Americans should give away money and do not need a luxurious lifestyle to survive. Peter Singer is trying to get us to open our eyes and hopefully give money to the needy. He will try to open our eyes by showing two different situations. The first situation is where Dora, a retired teacher, has the opportunity to win $1,000. In order to get $1,000, Dora must persuade a homeless nine-year-old boy to follow her to a family who will adopt him. She delivers the boy to the family without problem. After completing the easy job, she received $1,000. Dora spent money on a new television and continues to enjoy her new purchase. However, Dora discovers that the boy was too old to be adopted and is likely to be killed for his organs. She knew it was morally wrong for her to abandon the homeless boy for a sum of money....
