Essay / Altruism - 1241
Birds are chirping and children are playing on every corner, laughing and jumping rope. Each street is complemented by several beautiful homes and large yards with white picket fences to accompany them. Every house has a happy family to live in, a few children who happily skip school every day, a father and mother who come home after work every day, all without any worries. Every family lives a comfortable life, can afford most things, and easily and quickly save for things that are not entirely within their reach. There are no worries about how much money will be left for groceries after the bills are paid or what the family will have to give up to be able to maintain some of the comforts they currently enjoy. Every family in this town lives a perfect life that they wouldn't trade for anything in the world. This city is closed so that no outsiders can enter and interfere in the citizens' way of life. They have achieved perfect society and would not appreciate being interrupted. Strangers are constantly at the door waiting to become part of this incredible community. They want to live the life that the city has given to the families who live there. If the people inside allowed outsiders, who have terrible lives, with no money and no homes, in, they would ruin everything the city has worked so hard for, the perfect harmony. The foreigners would bring nothing more with them than their sad lives of living on the streets, their dirty and broken families, and no money to help the city develop. One day, the strangers found their way. With them, they brought the opposite of the things they had in town: boxes for houses, broken families, no money, no work, nothing. They had destroyed everything in the middle of the paper...to know that these people weren't just altruistic? We do not know that in killing these so-called witches, the persecutors were not only thinking of the other inhabitants of the towns and were not only thinking of their best interests. Who's to say that killing other people in these cases wasn't the right thing to do? Many people around the world need selfless people in their lives. Some long for help, others hate it. Regardless, since we have been given so much and others have so little, it is our duty to help provide for these people. It is our duty to ensure that we are not selfish and take more than we need instead of spreading wealth around the impoverished world. The only way for our world to move forward towards a better life for all is to stop being selfish and distribute the wealth and happiness that we have been given..
